Tim Li
Managing Partner
Tim is a founding partner of Inspiration Capital Partners. Previously, Tim was a Participating Managing
Director at Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Area, which is the firm’s primary vehicle for making
large, strategic private equity investments. He served on GS PIA’s global Corporate Equity Investment
Committee.
During his thirteen years at Goldman Sachs from 2006 to 2018, Tim led or co-led eleven investments in
China, Australia and Vietnam with total transaction value of US$1.6bn, including Anhui Kouzi, Henan
Songhe, Ascletis Pharma, Venus MedTech, Taikang Insurance Group, Qingdao Gooday Logistics, ANE
Logistics, VNG Group, Icon Cancer Care and Wellem Pediatric Clinics.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 2006, Tim worked in the Health Care and Financial Institutions Group
of Deutsche Bank.
Tim received a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Finance from the Wharton School of the
University of Pennsylvania.
Hwachie Lee
Managing Partner
Hwachie Lee is a founding partner of Inspiration Capital Partners. Previously, Hwachie was China Chief
Investment Officer and an investment committee member at Vivo Capital, a leading global health care
focused private equity fund where he serves in a management capacity and also led and sourced deals
including Wuxi Pharmatech.
Before joining Vivo, Hwachie was Chief Investment Officer and an investment committee member of
China Everbright Financial Investment Holdings, where he led the investment in China Unionpay. Prior to
that, he was a Principal at Blackstone and was responsible for China deal sourcing and execution. In addition,
he helped Catalent (a Blackstone portfolio company) negotiate a joint venture with Shangpharma as
well as hire the general manager to run its China operation. Hwachie also worked briefly in Affinity Equity
Partners as an Associate.
Before his private equity career, Hwachie worked in the investment banking divisions of Citigroup and
Merrill Lynch and completed various landmark transactions in China such as the US$3.3bn IPO of China
Shenhua.
Hwachie received a Bachelor of Science with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from the Wharton
School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Elizabeth Loh
PARTNER AND COO
Elizabeth is Chief Operating Officer of Inspiration Capital Partners with involvement across operations,
fundraising, investor relations and portfolio management. She has over 20 years of global investing and
fund raising experience in private equity, distressed assets and real estate.
Elizabeth previously was Head of Greater China of the Private Funds Group of Brookfield Asset Management,
a leading alternative asset management company. Prior to Brookfield, she was Head of Greater
China of Terra Firma Capital Partners, and before that she was Head of Asia for Generali Immobiliare
responsible for the firm’s Asia Pacific real estate investment activities.
Prior to that, she was Managing Director and Head of Asia Pacific of Real Estate Advisory at ABN Amro,
Executive Director at Bank of America, Global Special Situations Group, where she headed its Indian
distressed asset investment effort and led some of the single credit transactions in China.
She held various senior positions including: Head of Asia Pacific of the Principal Investment Department
of Morgan Stanley, and later became CFO of Morgan Stanley Properties in Beijing, responsible for setting
up the asset management arm of Morgan Stanley in China, and Executive Director of the Principal Investment
Area of Goldman Sachs Asia.
Elizabeth received a BSc from the London School of Economics and Bachelor of Administrative Studies
from York University.
